The Sound of Music Live: Stortford schoolboy Guy Trundle part of British TV history
A 13-year-old Bishop's Stortford boy became part of British television history when he performed as one of the Von Trapp
children in The Sound of Music Live on Sunday evening (Dec 20).
The £2m ITV production was the first time a musical theatre show had been broadcast live on TV in the UK.
The classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical about a novice nun who becomes governess to the seven children of a navy
captain in Nazi-occupied Austria starred former EastEnders actress and 2010 Strictly Come Dancing champion Kara Tointon
as Maria and Downton Abbey's Julian Ovenden as Captain Georg Von Trapp.
The cast also featured Pointless host Alexander Armstrong as Max Detweiler, Katherine Kelly from Mr Selfridge as Baroness
Elsa Schraeder, EastEnders actress Maria Friedman as Mother Abbess and The Great British Bake-Off co-presenter Mel
Giedroyc as Frau Schmidt.
And playing Friedrich - the second eldest of the singing Von Trapp children - was budding actor and musical theatre performer
Guy Trundle, who is in Year 9 at Birchwood High School.
